About

Hey there, nice to meet you!

I’m Stephanie Lyra, a 3x Emmy-nominated editor and Peabody Award winner with 15 years of experience telling stories across unscripted television, documentary, and film.

I grew up in New York City in a Brazilian immigrant family and was the first in my family to graduate from college. That background has shaped so much of the way I approach storytelling, with curiosity, empathy, and a genuine interest in people and perspectives different from my own.

My career has taken me through nearly every corner of the filmmaking process. Before finding my home in the edit bay, I worked across casting, story, production, and development, experiences that taught me how a story evolves from the earliest idea to the final cut. Today, I bring that perspective into my work as an editor, producer, and filmmaker, always looking beyond the footage to find the heart of the story.

After 15 years in television, I’m continuing to expand beyond the edit bay, developing and producing original projects, directing, and teaching the next generation of filmmakers. One of the things I’m most passionate about is creating more space for women and underrepresented voices both behind the camera and in the stories we tell.

At the end of the day, I believe the best work comes from great storytelling, strong collaboration, and being someone people genuinely enjoy creating with.

I look forward to connecting with you and hearing more about your project.

*I speak fluent Portuguese and conversational French.
